Tinkerkit vs Braccio ++

As we’re launching our latest robotic arm, the Braccio ++, we thought you’d like a side-by-side comparison with our existing Tinkerkit.

The Tinkerkit Braccio is a fully operational robotic arm that can be assembled in several ways for multiple tasks, such as moving objects. You can also attach a camera or solar panel. There are many ways in which this kit can extend the reach of other devices.

But the next level up from the Tinkerkit is Braccio ++, a revolutionary new robotic arm including new smart motors. It’s designed solely for higher education, including engineering schools and university institutes of technology – or even advanced high school and college students studying the sciences, industrial science or technology.

But how do the two compare?

Why is our all-new Braccio ++ even better than the Tinkerkit?

We’ve worked hard to make significant and expansive updates and improvements to the original TinkerKit Braccio robot to create Braccio ++. These include:

  • A completely new and fully optimized carrier that’s RS485 serial communication compatible, a color LCD screen, and a joystick
  • The kit now includes an Arduino board, the feature-packed Nano RP 2040 Connect
  • Instead of classic servo motors, the kit includes Arduino smart motors
  • USB C powers the carrier and motors, and can be even used for charging your computer
  • We are using a more sustainable material, Ecoallene, instead of the ABS plastics
  • You have a bigger base on which to mount the Braccio
  • Improved packaging, allowing you to mount and transport your Braccio in the box
  • New, dedicated online content
  • Can be used by up to three students

We’ve also made it more tailored to the learning outcomes of high school and college students.

With Braccio ++, students can more easily and visually learn real life applications of physical concepts through lifting, placing, and rotating an item. These concepts include motions, forces, torque, gear ratios, stability, and weight of payload, as well as machine learning.

The e-learning content that comes with the Braccio ++ correlates directly with curriculum objectives and outcomes, while also exposing students to real-world scenarios that will set them on a successful career path.
