5 New Block-Based Lessons That Push Learning Further
The latest additions to the Alvik block-based lesson journey are packed with real-world relevance and hands-on exploration. From AI-powered robots to game-controller fun, students can now build, test, and tinker their way through engaging challenges that mirror real technology and systems.
Here’s a brief overview of what’s included:
Build a Smart Car That Detects Obstacles (ToF Navigation)
Just like self-driving cars, students will program Alvik to use its Time of Flight (ToF) sensor to detect and avoid obstacles in real time.
Recreate Train-Based Systems with Color & Line Following
Inspired by the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), this lesson has students simulate how trains use signals and track markers (balise) to navigate safely and autonomously.
Train Alvik with Real-Time AI Using Teachable Machine (AI Explorer)
Students train their own AI models using images or gestures and use them to control how Alvik behaves – no experience required! It’s a playful, hands-on introduction to machine learning that’s perfect for young creators.
Turn Alvik into a Game Controller (GameBot Challenge)
Kids love games, so why not let them build their own? In these final two lessons, students can create simple games with sprites in mBlock and then use Alvik to control the action – blending robotics with storytelling, interaction, and fun.
