Creative Technologies in the Classroom (CTC) is a collection of experiments aimed at transforming the way technology is taught in schools around the world. These experiments introduce basic concepts in programming, electronics, and mechanics in an approachable, playful way. The project challenges traditional methods of learning technology by encouraging teachers and students to use the internet as the main tool for gathering information and documenting the projects they build.
The CTC project is a toolbox comprised of more than 20 hands-on, easily assembled electronic experiments; an online source for course materials and documentation tools; and a collaborative space where teachers can meet with a moderator to share their findings and ask technical questions.
This project has been successfully implemented in the Region of Castilla La Mancha and Madrid. Funding thus far has come from public institutions such as Fundación Telefónica, the Region of Castilla La Mancha, and Fundación La Caixa. Together they have sponsored more than 300 schools. During 2014 it expanded to Catalonia, Spain; Skåne, Sweden and the whole of Ecuador.
In Spring 2015, OpenCTC launched as a global initiative allowing any school to easily participate in ongoing CTC projects.
