Build, Test, Tinker: Ignite Hands-On Learning with Arduino Labs
In a time when so much learning happens through screens – and as AI, big data, and advanced robotics continue to shape the future – it’s easy to forget the importance of hands-on discovery. That’s why now, more than ever, we need physical spaces that bring STEAM learning to life. Places where ideas aren’t just explored virtually – they’re built and tested with tangible tools.
Arduino Labs makes that vision a reality. These innovative and creative spaces spark curiosity, fuel imagination, and help students and educators develop the hands-on skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.
But what makes an Arduino Lab so unique, and why should you consider building one in your setting? Read on to find out!
What are Arduino Labs?
Before we dive into the benefits of creating your own Arduino Lab, let’s answer the big question: What are Arduino Labs?
Featuring the latest Arduino tools and technology and support from authorized partners, these spaces are designed to empower learners at all levels to take their first step – or next step – into the world of electronics, robotics, coding and making.
However, an Arduino Lab is so much more than just a makerspace. It’s a complete, purpose-built learning environment designed to inspire creativity and innovation with real-world impact. Unlike generic makerspaces or some other brands, an Arduino Lab gives you access to a wealth of expertly curated and curriculum-aligned content. It can also be customized to fit your specific goals, space, and budget so that it works for you – not the other way around.
Plus, you’ll be joining a trusted, multi-award-winning global brand and becoming part of the world’s largest open-source community.

Sounds great, tell me more!
Arduino Labs are supported by a global network of authorized local partners who are deeply embedded in their regions. We train these partners to use and teach with our range of high-quality education solutions so they can help schools build meaningful learning environments with Arduino technology. This includes training on the full portfolio of Arduino hardware and software, which integrate perfectly with 3D printers, laser cutters and other hands-on tools.
With an Arduino Lab, you’ll also have access to carefully curated Arduino courses, self-guided tutorials, certifications, teacher training and professional development. So whether you’re hosting a robotics workshop, a teacher training day, or an after-school coding club, an Arduino Lab provides everything you need for a truly interactive, future-ready learning experience.
You can create an Arduino Lab in a K12 or higher education learning setting. You could even open up the space to the wider community, giving everyone the chance to experience the joy of making with Arduino.
We currently offer two types of Arduino Lab, so you can find the perfect fit for your needs:
- The Inspiration Lab – for K-12 schools, STEAM institutions and after-school centers
- The Invention Lab – for higher education, universities, vocational schools and more
And we’re not stopping there. We are planning to expand the Arduino Labs solution to businesses and industry very soon, so watch this space!
Why should you build an Arduino Lab?
There are so many reasons to create your own Arduino Lab that we could probably write a book! But to keep it simple, here are just a few of the most exciting benefits:
- Increase engagement in STEAM learning – With hands-on kits, real-world projects and interactive challenges, an Arduino Lab transforms learning into an exciting, tangible experience – one that captures imaginations and inspires students of all ages and skill levels.
- Give learners key skills for the future – Critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, teamwork… An Arduino Lab helps learners to develop all of these important life skills, setting them up for future success.
- Promote a culture of innovation – With access to the latest in open-source tech and cutting-edge tools, learners can tinker, prototype, and bring their ideas to life – developing a true innovator’s mindset.
- Get career-ready – Students gain hands-on experience with in-demand technologies such as robotics, IoT, and AI, giving them a competitive edge in their chosen career.
- Connect with your local community – Open your lab doors to the public and connect with local learners and makers. Establish a creative hub where anyone can get hands-on with technology and drive their own STEAM learning.
And the cherry on top? Students and educators can also earn official Arduino certifications, creating a sense of pride, raising standards, and opening doors to future opportunities. Call us biased, but that sounds like a win for everyone!
Arduino Labs in action
Let’s take a look at how Arduino Labs are already inspiring learners across the globe.
In Spain, the first Inspiration Lab was launched in partnership with Habilitas Education. Known as the *iLab,* the space is powered by Arduino products including the Student Kit, Science Kit R3, CTC Go! Core, Greenhouse Kit, Explore IoT Kit Rev2 and more.
"During the 22-23 academic year, we introduced the Arduino Student Kit in 3rd/4th ESO (14-16 years old students) and 1st-year Baccalaureate (16-17 years old students), with very positive results in student motivation and skill development,” explains educator Javier Díaz de Sarralde from Colegio San Viator Ikastetxea in Spain.“The platform’s guided activities and ready-to-use materials allow students to tackle complex concepts like programming, electronics, and circuits in a hands-on way.”
The first Belgium-based Inspiration Lab was launched in partnership with Technobel, a vocational training center based in Ciney. This dynamic space supports both teachers and students through engaging Arduino Education workshops, tailored teacher coaching, and certification programs for teens aged 15–18. Open to the public, the Lab is a vibrant hub where community members can explore hands-on STEAM learning and develop valuable tech skills in an inclusive, collaborative environment.
